The path from idea to success

Computer-to-plate systems

Computer-to-plate (CtP) systems optimize the process of printing plate exposure. Improved image quality, increased plate outputs and the elimination of error-prone process steps can deliver significant cost savings.

In practice, however, many of these cost savings are not realized, because most of the platesetters on the market today require you to switch to dedicated CtP plates. This requirement to change plate type is a major disadvantage for the user as the acquisition and disposal of these dedicated CtP plates is significantly more expensive than the UV-sensitive offset plates. Thus, the increased cost of consumables – in particular the low-chemistry plates – quickly negates any CtP-associated cost benefits. Furthermore, dependencies, narrow tolerances and supply bottlenecks also restrict the freedom of production scheduling.

basysPrint systems offer an attractive alternative: Computer-to-plate with UV-sensitive plates!

The idea of CtP for UV-sensitive printing plates

basysPrint – founded 1995 and today a brand of Xeikon International BV – set itself the target of developing a technology which would unite the principles of CtP with the benefits of the proven, conventional UV plate technology. The product of this development was the basysPrint UV-Setter.

The basysPrint UV-Setter is a CtP platesetter that uses UV-sensitive plates. It incorporates the unique Digital Screen Imaging (DSI) concept, which enables violet laser diodes to process more than 50 different brands of UV-sensitive printing plates from 15 different manufacturers. The UV-Setter has been enjoying tremendous success worldwide for over 10 years, handling a wide variety of applications and plate sizes (up to 1535 x 3170 mm).
