Ieper, Belgium, November 2010 - basysPrint, a division of Punch Graphix and the inventor of UV computer-to-plate solutions, and leading European offset plate manufacturer Ipagsa, today announce the immediate release of Activa FPP, a new positive, pre-sensitized offset plate which has been accredited for the complete range of basysPrint UV-Setters. Used in combination with basysPrint’s UV-Setter series of platesetters, the Activa FPP plate guarantees highest productivity and maximum image quality across the full tonal range. Activa FPP has a high UV sensitive plate coating for fast exposure. This dark blue coating provides strong image contrast after developing, so that jobs can be easily viewed, and densitometry measurements will be...

The million-dollar question faced by all newcomers to the computer-to-plate technology is: How and where should I start? Should I choose a thermal platesetter, or a violet system, or perhaps a system for process-free plates? And then, there are CtP systems which claim to function with the user's tried and tested conventional plates. Is that really an avenue with a future? And is it a wise investment? There is probably no another topic where such uncertainty reigns, and – with all due respect – no other field in which more nonsense is propagated as in the case of CtP with conventional analog printing plates (also referred to as UV-CtP). Hence, we would like to clarify some of the most important questions asked in connection with this topic...

basysPrint, a division of Punch Graphix, has prepared a special treat for visitors to the forthcoming Drupa: New UV-Setters 450 and 850 with laser exposure technology for 4 up and 8 up applications. With these systems, the inventor of UV-CtP offers the market an exemplary product incorporating the very latest in UV exposure technologies. The new UV-Setters 450 and 850 guarantee ultimate flexibility with regard to operating speed, plate handling, format range and punching options. The exposure speed can be configured individually on the basis of high-performance diode modules (DSI³), enabling plate throughput rates to be more than doubled. The modular design places no restrictions on the diversity of automation solutions. Numerous variants...
